Sacred Spirits

"My body was broken for all the people, not just some of the people"

The highlight of my year thus far came this morning when I got on the computer and saw Sacred Spirits' album is finally out. Love this band and these songs so much. Go download it for free and enjoy it to the max.

Saturday

Moonraker

One of my favorite songs of all time ever, partly because it's titled after a James Bond movie.

Tuesday

Favoritas

I made it a point to get a lot of albums this year. These are my 5 favorite records from 2010... most of them are not from this year. I'm sure that since I'm so behind the times you probably already have all of these... but if you don't... get them! Also, I will let you know ahead of time that my reviews are very insightful.

RED HOUSE PAINTERS/ Rollercoaster [1993]
Got this album in September. It fit Fall really well, but in general I think this album captured the mood of my year. Dark, reflective, pretty.
Favorite track: "Mistress (Piano Version)"

ENLOU/ Body of Friends, Body of Water [2010]
I have many fond memories attached to hearing this batch of songs played live last year at Gratis Fest and then again at Midpoint. Then it finally came out this year - on cassette! So of course it's on the list.
Favorite track: "Ghost of Peace"

THE SMITHS/ The Smiths [1984]
Duh.
Favorite track: "Still Ill"

MY BLOODY VALENTINE/ Loveless [1991]
Reverb.
Favorite track: "Sometimes"

NEW ORDER/ Power, Corruption & Lies [1983]
Half of the songs on this album sucked, but the 4 that didn't suck were everything that I love about New Order.
Favorite track: "Leave Me Alone"

Other favorite songs:

Morrissey/ "Hairdresser On Fire"
The Cure/ "Plainsong"
The Sheds/ "Drunk for Lunch"
Sacred Spirits/ "Jackson"
L'albatros/ All of them

Sorry I don't know how to share mp3s for you to hear all of this wonderful music. Oh well.

Sunday

Bring on the Dancing Horses

Trying not to go insane.
